Pavia - Italy, September 2011. Big smiles and expressions of amazement were not wasted in this eighth edition of Hills Race. Many drivers as many viewers have arrived to the airport of Rivanazzano (Pavia), and transformed the acceleration's race in a unique and inimitable show.
This is how...
On Friday already, historically given to the settlement of the last details on track, many teams began to arrive, especially foreigners, and prepared a paddock at the highest level. Many participants have come from Germany and France, even if each European country had at the end one representative. From 16.00 o' clock, the silence of the valley that host the airport, has been interrupted by the roar of engines that have been officially given the green light to the first test launches.
At the end of the race registration, 95 cars were regularly well entered in the most important race of acceleration in Italy.
After seven editions with a lucky and generous sun, Hills Race 2011 has been particularly wet. Especially on Sunday, the damp track did not allow the regular running of the race. The weather forecast, already the previous week, left no hope for the final day of Hills Race.

Maybe for this reason, most of the public has anticipated its presence on Saturday. During this day the promoter have recorded more than 6,000 appearances between racing teams, fans of US cars and motorcycles and public. Impressive this year, the number of families attending the event. Among them, so many young fans. A signal that Hills Race is truly an event for everybody, focused on high-speed sport and entertainment, a game that fascinates children and adults.
The number of cars attending the event has been about 650, of which 350 made in USA and 300 aircooled Volkswagen. Harley-Davidson motorcycles made the difference this year, with a parking space completely full. On Saturday there were more than 1,200 V-Twins. On Sunday, despite the bad weather obliged to suspend the activity on track, the presence of public has been significant.
Great results have also been recorded by the fringe activities, as the demo ride by Harley-Davidson, who have seen sold out in several hours all the turns to test new bikes and as the wonderful rides around Oltrepò Pavese organized by Portofino Coast Chapter. More than 70 bikers have taken part in it.
The Bike Show, managed from the italian famous magazine Low Ride, has crowned the Top 5 bikes:

o BEST RACER Moto Guzzi 850 GT 1984 "Motomorphosy" owner Speedy, built by ChopWorks
o BEST FULL CUSTOM H-D Softail 1994 "Arcadia" owner Paolo Leali, built by Gallery
Despite the inclement weather, the acceleration race has offered a great show. Many dragsters and hot rods have given the public eyes, so many launches, burn outs and big show along the track. Equally magic, live music and performances strictly made in USA, that have accompanied the race activity.
The first round of race qualification and preliminary scheduled for Sunday morning has not taken place. For this reason the race has been declared disallowed by the management.
AMP Staff would like to thank the public, all the guys who have worked hard and not least, the Aeroclub L.M. Resta and in particular the City of Pavia, cause they have contributed to organize a vey important event from an economic, cultural and social viewpoint for the territory.
